KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Izabelle Trefts of The Evergreen State College has been named the Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after delivering one of the most impressive race walk performances at the Concordia (Neb.) Polar Dog Invite.
Competing in the 3,000-meter race walk on Friday, Jan. 23 in Seward, Nebraska, the senior from Milford, Maine, won the event in a field of six athletes with a time of 13:33.27. The mark earned Trefts an NAIA “A” qualifying standard.
Trefts’ performance was record-setting on multiple levels. In addition to claiming the meet victory, she set a new Evergreen State school record and both the meet and facility records at Concordia. Her 13:33.27 moved her into first place on the NAIA season performance list, making her the national leader in the event as the championship portion of the indoor calendar approaches.
