KIRKLAND – Northwest used 54 bench points and a solid shooting day to grab a 98-47 win over Portland Bible College Saturday.
Connor Drinkwine sank six three-pointers and led the Eagles with 20 points and the Eagles added four double-figure scoring performances from non-starters. Jason Brown Jr. had 11 points and Devante Powell, Daniel Sharpe, and Tre Newman scored 10 each.
"Today was a good team win," said NU Head Coach Jeff Drinkwine. "We were down Tanner (Davis) due to the flu, and we knew that would impact us. But once we got our rhythm we executed well. We were pleased to see everyone contribute on both ends of the floor."
Portland Bible led 11-9 with 15:14 left in the first half, but the Eagles took over with a 12-4 run, led by Rayvaughn Bolton with four points.
Northwest closed the half on a 20-0 run to take a 52-24 lead. Connor Drinkwine had nine points in that outburst. The Wildcats got no closer in the second half and NU saw its lead peak at 52 points on a Brown three-pointer with 2:05 left.
Carson Sparks led the Eagles with 14 rebounds and Sharpe added eight as the Eagles enjoyed a 53-27 advantage on the boards.
CaCoa Chatman and Brown had six assists each and the guards were solid all day, committing just seven turnovers.
The 5-3 Eagles get back to action next weekend with a trip to Portland, taking on Warner Pacific on Friday night and Multnomah on Saturday evening.
