KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After crowning the 84
th NAIA Men’s Basketball National Champion on Tuesday, the NAIA announced its selections of the 2021-22 NAIA Men’s Basketball All-America Teams Thursday morning.
Two student-athletes represented the Cascade Collegiate Conference on the list. College of Idaho’s Ricardo Time picked up third team honors, while Eastern Oregon University’s Phillip Malatare grabbed honorable mention distinction.
Time, the CCC’s WVT Laboratory Player of the Year, led the Coyotes to claim both the regular-season and tournament conference championships and advance to the NAIA National Championship round of 16. The senior from Palm Beach, Fla., finished the year averaging 12.5 points per game on 42.4-percent shooting. Time scored in double figures 25 times, including a string of 15-straight games, and surpassed the 1,000 career point mark, becoming the 29
th Yote to do so.
Malatare, the CCC’s Newcomer of the Year, averaged 19.2 points per game in 27 games played. His 19.2 points per game were second-highest in the CCC. The junior from Arlee, Mont., was eighth in steals at 1.4 per game and ranked 10th in assists at 3.3 per game. Malatare scored in double figures in 24 games this year and posted five double-doubles on the year.
