CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2024-25 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball season tips off into full action this weekend.
All 12 teams will battle for the regular-season championship and the CCC’s first automatic qualifier (AQ) to the NAIA National Tournament. The second AQ will be awarded to the winner of the CCC Men’s Basketball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank., starting on Feb. 25.
College of Idaho was chosen to defend their crown in the
CCC Preseason Poll. Last year, they earned the CCC regular season champion title and are currently ranked No. 4 in the latest
NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. C of I completed its non-conference slate with a 5-1 record, including a 76-44 win against NCAA Dll Northwest Nazarene University. They only suffered a four point loss to No. 7-ranked The Masters University. College of Idaho currently holds the largest scoring margin (+21.5), 3-points made (54), and blocked shots (4.2 Avg/G) in the league. The Yotes host Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech to open their conference season this weekend. SOU and OIT were the only CCC teams to defeat C of I last season.
Oregon Tech enters conference play with a 4-2 record and is currently ranked No. 25 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Oregon Tech claimed the CCC tournament title last year, secured the second spot in the CCC preseason poll, and is prepared to continue its momentum into the new season. OIT currently leads the conference in offensive scoring (90.0 Avg/G), field goal percentage (.537 Avg/G), and assists (18.2 Avg/G). Owl star Blake Jensen holds the highest field goal percentage (.765) in the CCC. The Owls will begin their regular season this weekend against Eastern Oregon University and College of Idaho.
Southern Oregon University has a 5-1 record prior to the tip off of the CCC season. They had a competitive pre conference schedule, resulting in just one tight overtime loss to No. 1-ranked Arizona Christian University. SOU received votes in the latest NAIA coaches’ poll. Southern Oregon currently holds the second highest rebounding margin (+11.0 Avg/G) in the CCC. The Raiders are set for much anticipated match ups against College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon University.
Lewis-Clark State College begins the season with a 5-1 record and is ranked No. 21 in the latest NAIA coaches’ poll. LC State only dropped one close two point game to No. 5-ranked Montana Tech and began conference play with a 35 point victory over Walla Walla University. LCSC leads the league in rebounding margin (+14.2) and is ranked second in offensive scoring (88.0 Avg/G). Warrior star Alton Hamilton is the leading scorer (21.8 Avg/G) and rebounder (11.4 Avg/G) in the conference. The Warriors will play Northwest University and The Evergreen State College to continue its conference campaign. Last season, they won all four matchups.
Multnomah also begins its season with an impressive 5-1 record and a 71-70 defeat over Warner Pacific University to tip off conference action. Multnomah has recorded several impressive victories thus far and only has one two point loss to Montana Western. Nomah currently leads the CCC in offensive rebounds (14.2 Avg/G) and steals (8.8 Avg/G) and holds the second highest scoring margin (+15.5 Avg/G). The Lions continue its conference season this weekend, facing Bushnell University and Corban University.
Warner Pacific University fell to Multnomah in the first conference game of the season by a point. This marked their only loss of the season as they continue conference play with a 4-1 record. WPU is ranked second in the conference in defensive scoring (64.0 Av/G) and 3-point percentage (.368). The Knights continue its conference season this weekend, facing Corban University and Bushnell University.
Bushnell University heads into CCC action with a 4-2 record. Bushnell had a strong preseason, including an 84-81 victory over (RV) Hope International University and holds the highest turnover margin (+7.33) in the league. The Beacons tip off their conference season hosting Multnomah and Warner Pacific University. Last season, they won all four matchups.
Corban University started the season with a 2-4 record after facing many highly ranked opponents. Corban is ranked second in the CCC in blocked shots (3.5 Avg/G) and 3-points made (52). The Warriors will play their first conference games of the season this weekend against Warner Pacific University and Multnomah. Last season, they won all four matchups.
Eastern Oregon University holds a 4-1 record as they began conference play. EOU shots have been hot as they lead the league in 3-point percentage (.392) and rank second in field goal percentage (.531) and free throw percentage (.765). The Mounties host Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon University this weekend in the long awaited conference opener.
Walla Walla University has a 0-4 overall record. WWU fell in its first CCC game to LC State. The Wolves will play The Evergreen State College and Northwest University in search for its first win.
Northwest University is looking for its first victory of the season. The Eagles will begin the CCC season hosting Lewis-Clark State College and Walla Walla University.
The Evergreen State College is searching for its first win as it tips off conference play with a 0-3 record. Evergreen currently has the highest free throw percentage (.833) in the CCC. The Geoducks will host Walla Walla University and Lewis-Clark State College this weekend. They fell in all four matchups last season.
