Under Armour Team of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Corban University Women’s Basketball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for February 9 – 15, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

(RV) Corban earned the honors after taking a senior weekend sweep over (RV) College of Idaho and No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon University, strengthening their position in a tightly contested race atop the Cascade Conference standings.

The Warriors opened the weekend with a 79-65 win against College of Idaho, completing a season sweep of the Yotes. Corban established control early, pouring in 29 points in the first quarter and taking a nine-point lead into halftime. The Warriors then took over defensively, adding 39 rebounds while limiting C of I to just a 39.3 shooting percentage. Corban shot 54 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3-point range, and 77 percent at the free-throw line in the victory. Jenna Albrecht led all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, while Jersey Huerta added 14 points. Sevennah Van De Riet paced the rebounding effort with seven boards.

On senior day, the Warriors followed with a 72-66 upset over Eastern Oregon, handing the Mountaineers just their fourth loss of the season. After trailing at halftime Corban responded with a strong second-half performance, regaining control in the third quarter, outscoring 26-17. Tayla Yost delivered two critical 3-pointers during a decisive fourth-quarter run, while Albrecht once again led the offense with 18 points. Huerta contributed 17 points and eight rebounds, and Emilia Bishop added 12 points and six boards. Corban outrebounded 40-31 and limited EOU to a 39.7 shooting percentage.

With the pair of wins, Corban improved to 21-5 overall and 14-4 in conference play, positioning itself firmly in the hunt for a top seed entering the final stretch of the regular season. Next up, the Warriors will face another tough battle against No. 12-ranked Lewis-Clark State College on Friday.
